I've had a typewriter since I was six, a husband and a power drill since I was thirty (he doesn't know how to use it), and a son since I was thirty-four.

We think about outer space in my house a lot these days, which is handy, because nothing takes your mind off of ordinary domestic concerns quite like realizing how teeny weeny we really are. We also think about our medicated dog, black locust tree leaves and lead paint.

I've made a living as a journalist/writer since I was 22. It's a fickle profession in these times of expanding online media and paper cuts. I've grown accustomed to uncertainty and change.

And even the nicest of editors will steal your rhythm. I started blogging to document the adventure of motherhood, and to try and stay in touch with (or rediscover) my inner groove.
