Alright; I know, I know. Some of you don't like "those kinds of comics". But when I think of comics, I'm thinking of Sin City/Frank Miller, Todd Mcfarland's days with Marvel, The X-ecutioner's song, Marvel vs. DC cross overs, and all 'o that good stuff. (Don't get me wrong--- Garfield=classic; Gary Larson's The Far Side=priceless, classic, hilariously outrageous, an easy favorite; Calvin & Hobbs=HILARIOUSLY creative; The Boondocks=intelegant, witty,...a cultural warrior's 'must read'!!!!!)
But if your 'that kinda' comics fan; I'm hoping that you've come across Marvel's "Civil War" story arch(s).
I could rant on, but I'm really curious to hear others responces [even if it's "dude, wtf are you talkig about???"]. Afterwards I'll be glad to put in my 'two cents worth'.
Civil War had some great ideas and seem to be on track to be huge, but then it had a pin stuck in it and deflated into... not much.
My sentiments EXACTLY mate. But you know what really pisses me off? Every epic story arch they run has been like that lately (or, actually it's been like that for a long time).
And then they launched Planet Hulk---they really surprised me on that one; turned out well I though. And then they went all World War Hulk which (like the Civil War) had so much potential....then was a huge let down in the end.
And now it seems what little bit of good came out of their CW run is going to be countered by Secret Invasion.
Jeeze.....what's go'n on in the House of Ideas Marvel?
I thought Messiah CompleX was a really good story, but it seems to really be back to business as usual now in the X-verse.
Marvel swears up and down that Secret Invasion won't be a deus ex machina undoing anything, including Civil War, but they've lied before, so I don't know who to trust...
Not Marvel, that's for sure.
Yes, Messiah CompleX has been VERY good. Nothing like a good-mess-of-things to bring out the best with all the muties!
....oh yeah, I saw a sneak peek of the Son of Hulk...I'm definitely gonna keep my eye out for that one!
As far as the Invasion goes: it's kept me pretty interested; and it's being well explained (i think).
